<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8950" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/flat-circle-thumb.jpg" alt="How to crochet a flat circle with my video tutorial and written instructions." width="800" height="450" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/flat-circle-thumb.jpg 800w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/flat-circle-thumb-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/flat-circle-thumb-150x84.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/flat-circle-thumb-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<h2>You got skills!</h2>
<p>Skills, they&#8217;re the building blocks of knowledge. Right? Learning how to crochet a flat circle is one tool that every crocheter should have in their toolbox.</p>
<p>Crocheting a flat circle can come in handy when crocheting just about anything &#8211; often you&#8217;ll need to know how to crochet a flat circle to begin a <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/category/accessories/hats/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">crochet hat</a>, to <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/category/kids/amigurumi-toys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">crochet amigurumi toys</a>, to make <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/10-best-basket-crochet-patterns/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">baskets</a> and other items. This technique is a very useful one to know as a <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/?s=beginner" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">beginner crocheter</a> or for perfecting your skills to work on designing your own pieces.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-june-sun-hat/"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8946 size-full" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878.jpg" alt="Crochet june sun hat view from the top showing how to crochet a flat circle construction." width="1463" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878.jpg 1463w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878-214x300.jpg 214w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878-732x1024.jpg 732w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878-107x150.jpg 107w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878-768x1075.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/IMG_9878-1097x1536.jpg 1097w" sizes="(max-width: 1463px) 100vw, 1463px" /></a></p>
<p>Increasing the number of <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/category/techniques/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">techniques</a> you can utilize when crocheting makes following creative patterns more fun! Sometimes when reading a pattern or watching a video tutorial, the teacher may rush through how to crochet a flat circle as part of the project. So it&#8217;s really helpful to be able to understand how that shape is made and do it on your own!</p>
<p>Learning how to crochet a flat circle is just one of many techniques every crocheter should know, others include <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-tips-straight-edges-everytime/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">how to keep straight edges in crochet</a> and <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/magic-crochet-color-change/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">how to change color in crochet.</a></p>
<h2>What to make with flat circles</h2>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve mastered how to crochet a flat circle you can put those skills to good use to make all sorts of projects.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve rounded up some of my own <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/wool-ease-thick-and-quick-crochet-knit-patterns/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">favorite patterns</a> using flat circles in the construction for you to peruse. <h2><strong>The Yarn</strong></h2>
<p>In this video tutorial I use <a href="http://shrsl.com/1x2l2" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick &amp; Quick</a> &#8211; one of my all-time favorite yarns! It&#8217;s great for myriad <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/wool-ease-thick-and-quick-crochet-knit-patterns/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">projects</a> but also for learning new stitches and techniques, like how to crochet a flat circle!</p>
<p><a href="http://shrsl.com/1x2l2" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wool Ease Thick &amp; Quick</a> comes in a ton of beautiful colors and my favorite is the color I used called Fisherman. It&#8217;s a stunning off-white that&#8217;s not too yellow. It&#8217;s a beautiful cream color that fits just about everyone&#8217;s taste!</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><strong>How to Crochet a Flat Circle PATTERN</strong></h2>
<h3><b>MATERIALS</b></h3>
<p>-Any yarn and corresponding hook size</p>
<p>I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick &amp; Quick yarn in the color Fisherman and a K 6.5mm crochet hook</p>
<p>-Stitch marker (a bobbi pin or spare piece of yarn in another color works fine for this)</p>
<h3><b>NOTES</b></h3>
<p>-See abbreviations below the written instructions.<br />
-Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round. Be sure to move it up when you begin each round.<br />
-Numbers within &lt; &gt; indicate the number of final stitches in that round. Be sure to double check your stitch counts so that you make sure you are on track to make a perfect flat circle.<br />
-This pattern creates a circle working in continuous rounds without a seam. If you wish to join your rounds simply slip stitch at the end of each round and chain 1 stitch.<br />
-When the pattern reads &#8220;inc, sec 2; rep around&#8221; that means: increase (two single crochets in the same stitch) once, single crochet in each of the following two stitches, repeat this entire sequence over and over until you&#8217;ve finished the round.<br />
-Save this page to your Pinterest board if you need to watch it often to remember how to make a flat circle.</p>

<h2>Easy is an understatement!</h2>
<p>You know how you see a handmade piece of clothing online and your internal monologue immediately sounds like &#8220;woah, that&#8217;s complicated! I could never! Show me a <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/?s=scarf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">scarf pattern</a>!&#8221; I&#8217;m here to tell you that I felt that way for a good long time until I found the right <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/category/sweaters/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">patterns</a> and tutorials for me.</p>
<p>This easy crochet <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/category/sweaters/cardigans/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">cardigan</a> is just about as simple as it could get &#8211; it&#8217;s made of T shaped panels that are sewn together, that&#8217;s it! There&#8217;s no fussy shaping or difficult elements that take this beyond an easy level pattern.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8916 size-full" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697.jpg" alt="Easy Crochet Cardigan with lightweight fluffy yarn and T shaped panel construction." width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05697-1025x1536.jpg 1025w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<h2>The Inspiration + Design</h2>
<p>One of my patterns from earlier this year is constructed in a very similar fashion to this &#8211; it&#8217;s called <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-cabana-top-free-pattern/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the Cabana Top</a>. That pattern is a <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/category/sweaters/pullovers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">pullover sweater</a> style that is also made up of basic T shaped panels. It&#8217;s been a popular pattern here on the blog so I knew I wanted to make an easy crochet cardigan style sister pattern.</p>
<p>This pattern is only slightly different from <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-cabana-top-free-pattern/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the Cabana Top</a>. Instead of two identical T shaped panels that are sewn together, we work one large T shaped panel for the back. Then two separate panels for the front that together make up that T shape. This mirrors the back only with an opening to make it a cardigan.</p>
<p>I maintained the same slightly lacy shoulder and top of sleeve of this easy crochet cardigan. However the yarn I used fills in those gaps quite a bit. If you wanted more stitch definition I would suggest using a yarn that isn&#8217;t quite as fluffy as the one I used.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8911 size-full" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667.jpg" alt="Easy crochet cardigan with lace detailing on the shoulder." width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05667-1025x1536.jpg 1025w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<h2><strong>The Yarn</strong></h2>
<p>I used Lion Brand&#8217;s <a href="http://shrsl.com/1yyje" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LB Collection Chainette yarn</a> for this easy crochet cardigan pattern. It&#8217;s been a smash hit ever since it came out last year! Once you feel it in your own hand, you&#8217;ll know why. This yarn is a luxurious blend of 70% baby alpaca, 18% virgin wool, and 12% polyamide for durability. Chainette is spun in a chain style structure (instead of plied like usual yarn is) and this means the stitches look more woven. It also means the <a href="http://shrsl.com/1yyje" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">yarn</a> is very fluffy in that it allows air to pass through it and creates a lightweight feeling on the skin.</p>
<p>The color range in this yarn is one of my all-time favorites from any yarn brand. The colors are all heathered and a little rustic without being too muddy. They&#8217;re somehow both bright and soft at the same time. My favorites are the <a href="http://shrsl.com/1yyje" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">pink, cream, mustard and olive but really there isn&#8217;t a single color in the line that I don&#8217;t like!</a></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve made a couple of other patterns, apart from this easy crochet cardigan, with this yarn. These include my <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/knit-simple-slouch-gwen-hat-free-pattern/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Knit Gwen Hat</a> (that I&#8217;ve been wearing all season!) and my <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-elle-convertible-shawl-free-pattern/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Crochet Elle Convertible Shawl</a>.</p>

<h3>The Inspiration + Design</h3>
<p>I&#8217;ve always wanted to make a pumpkin colored sweater. One that I would pull out every year to signal the first seasonal change to fall. Turning leaves, a brisk chill in the air, some apple cider and my pumpkin colored sweater.</p>
<p>With that in mind, I knew I wanted my sweater to be warm but light so that I could layer it with lighter shirts underneath or a jacket on top for when the temperature changes. I also wanted this sweater to be oversized and comfy &#8211; knowing that I usually catch a cold this time of year I needed something extra cozy!</p>
<p>So I built that comfort right into the sweater. I chose a fluffy yarn and worked plenty of inches of room into the design and I&#8217;m so happy with the result!</p>

<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8762" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oh-my-gourd-18.jpg" alt="" width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oh-my-gourd-18.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oh-my-gourd-18-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oh-my-gourd-18-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oh-my-gourd-18-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oh-my-gourd-18-683x1024.jpg 683w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<h3><strong>The Yarn</strong></h3>
<p>I&#8217;ve loved <a href="http://shrsl.com/1w05q" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lion Brand&#8217;s LB Collection Chainette yarn</a> since it came out last year (I&#8217;ve already made a <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/knit-simple-slouch-gwen-hat-free-pattern/">hat</a> and a <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-elle-convertible-shawl-free-pattern/">shawl</a> with it!) so I knew a knit sweater in this yarn would be dreamy.</p>
<p>I was picky about this sweater being the *right* shade of pumpkin. Not too red, not too yellow, not too bright orange. And this <a href="http://shrsl.com/1w05q">Amber</a> color of <a href="http://shrsl.com/1w05q">Chainette</a> really, truly, is everything I wanted! It&#8217;s vibrant but muted and heathered and gorgeous. It&#8217;s everything I wanted and I couldn&#8217;t be happier with my new sweater!</p>
<p>All the colors of <a href="http://shrsl.com/1w05q">Chainette</a> are truly gorgeous &#8211; I rarely love every single color in a yarn line but with this one, I really do! So even if you aren&#8217;t looking for an orange sweater, try out another color because the fluff and lightweight warmth of this yarn is unmatched.</p>

<p><strong>PATTERN NOTES</strong></p>
<p>-For reference, model is 5’5” tall, and wearing the Knit Oh My Gourd Sweater in a size Medium. Fit is oversized, for a more fitted sweater size down.</p>
<p>-The gauge, size, and fit of this finished sweater is largely impacted by blocking. I steam block (steam the panels before seaming with an iron on the steam setting or a clothing steamer) and again after the piece is finished. Be sure to block your swatch.</p>
<p>-Sizing listed in the pattern will be in X-Small with Small, Medium, Large, Xl, 2X, and 3X listed in parenthesis such as 72 (82, 90, 100, 108, 118, 126) whereas co 72 for size XS, 82 for size S, 90 for size M, 100 for size L, 108 for size XL, 118 for size 2X and 126 for size 3X. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle/highlight all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.</p>
<p>-This pullover sweater is worked in 4 pieces, the front and back panels, 2 sleeve panels then seamed together. Neckline ribbing is worked last by picking up stitches.</p>
<p>-All sizing is a bit oversized and based on the CYC sizing regulations.</p>

<p>Finding the right yarn substitute is not always easy. It can be especially frustrating when you find a yarn you love but it doesn&#8217;t turn out the way you want or it&#8217;s not the right fit for the pattern. So I&#8217;m here to help you navigate your way down the yarn aisle, and discover your match-made-in-heaven yarn!</p>
<p>Of course matching fiber content and yardage (I&#8217;m anti-math, who&#8217;s with me??) are ideal when substituting yarn. But what&#8217;s more important is matching weight. Some weights have a broad spectrum, leaving a lot of room for variety. It can be even trickier to manage as a beginner, so <a href="https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/c/article/yarn-weights-translated">here&#8217;s the ultimate guide</a> to understanding yarn weights. This is also where gauge swatching comes in handy! (If you&#8217;re not familiar with gauge swatching, watch <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnT89huAi6E">this handy video tutorial here</a>.)</p>

All 3 of these yarns share the same 100% acrylic fibers, making this one a no brainer! <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90d">ZZ Twist</a> makes these classic granny squares shine with neutral, bright, and rich colors to choose from. For the ultimate color pairing options for this blanket, stock up on some of <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90d">this yarn</a> that&#8217;s made for crocheters! And maybe a few extra, because trust me &#8211; you want some leftover for other projects (like <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91h">this easy beginner garment</a>!).</li>
<li><a href="https://dabblesandbabbles.com/ombre-textured-blanket-crochet-pattern/"><strong>Ombre Textured Crochet Blanket from Dabbles &amp; Babbles</strong></a> &#8211; <em>Original yarn</em>: <a href="https://amzn.to/2A9w8tp">Plymouth Encore Worsted yarn</a> / <em>Substitute</em>: <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90g">Lion Brand&#8217;s Mandala Ombre</a><br />
I chose <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90g">the ombre</a> for this sub because I thought it made sense with the style of the pattern (no end weaving here!) and makes life a bit easier. And let&#8217;s be real, I&#8217;ll take ease anywhere I can. With multiple variations of <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91b">Mandala</a> (<a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91b">the original</a>, <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91c">Baby</a>, <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91d">Sparkle</a>, <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91f">Tweed</a>, to name a few), this is a fun way to play with both colors and textures in this pattern! And I&#8217;m comin&#8217; in with another win. Sure, you gotta do a little math here, but it&#8217;s the good kind! <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t91b">Mandala yarns</a> are known for lots of yardage, so you&#8217;re getting almost twice as much <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90g">here</a> (344 yds) than with the <a href="https://amzn.to/2A9w8tp">original</a> (200 yds)! I&#8217;ll leave you with this&#8230; If you ever wondered what goes on inside my head when I see this yarn sitting pretty on a shelf, here&#8217;s my inner dialogue: &#8220;Hey there self-striping yarn. You&#8217;re looking mighty fine today. Why yes, I <em>DO</em> think I&#8217;m in the mood for mindless crocheting! Thanks for asking!&#8221; <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8347" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-2-1.jpg" alt="" width="1500" height="1000" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-2-1.jpg 1500w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-2-1-150x100.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-2-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-2-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-2-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px" /></li>
<li><strong><a href="https://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-diamond-berry-stitch-blanket/">Crochet Diamond Berry Stitch Blanket from Daisy Farm Crafts</a></strong> &#8211; <em>Original yarn</em>: <a href="https://amzn.to/2LrqYzp">Patons Classic Wool Roving yarn</a> / <em>Substitute</em>: <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90i">Lion Brand&#8217;s Color Made Easy</a><br />
Since <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90i">CME</a> is 100% acrylic, this is a great substitute for people with wool allergies! And I&#8217;m just especially partial to <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90i">this yarn</a>. Ever since it was debuted, I&#8217;ve had a hard time keeping it off my hook or needles (yes it&#8217;s perfect for both crafts). It&#8217;s squish-tastic, soft, smooth, and bouncy, and about as perfect as it gets for marshmallow-like fluffy blanket goodness (how&#8217;s that for adjectives?!). It&#8217;s a stunning weight 5 bulky yarn, which (if you ask me) is the perfect thing for beginners. It&#8217;s nice and thick so you can clearly see your stitches, and easy to hold and work with for those completely foreign to yarn. And it&#8217;s works up quicker than those pesky thin yarns! Triple win. I could go on ranting about the <em>killer</em> colors, but that&#8217;s something you might as well see for yourself! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/12.0.0-1/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></li>
<li><a href="https://rescuedpawdesigns.com/simple-striped-knit-blanket//"><strong>Striped Knit Blanket by Rescued Paw Designs</strong></a> &#8211; <em>Original yarn</em>: <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90b">Lion Brand&#8217;s Vanna&#8217;s Choice</a> / <em>Substitute</em>: <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90h">Lion Brand&#8217;s Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling</a><br />
There&#8217;s really nothing basic about <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90h">Basic Stitch</a>. Get ready for it to be your new <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t90h">go-to acrylic yarn</a> that you find yourself grabbing again and again. It can stand the test of time like no other because it&#8217;s treated to resist pilling. Even if you do see those fuzzy bumps begin to appear, just pop it in the wash and they&#8217;re gone! It&#8217;s pretty magical. Both of these yarns also have an enormous palette for choices galore, making it an easy swap. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8339" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-3.jpg" alt="" width="1353" height="1000" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-3.jpg 1353w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-3-150x111.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-3-300x222.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-3-768x568.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/tile-3-1024x757.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1353px) 100vw, 1353px" /></li>
<li><a style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;" href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/273669640/crochet-pattern-fisherman-blanket-extra?ref=shop_home_active_3&amp;pro=1"><strong>Crochet Fisherman Blanket from Mouse and Thimble</strong></a><span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;"> &#8211; <em>Original yarn</em>: <a href="https://www.yarnspirations.com/bernat-blanket-yarn--300g-10.5-oz-/161110.html">Bernat Blanket yarn</a></span> / <em>Substitute</em>: <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t905">Lion Brand&#8217;s Wool-Ease Thick &amp; Quick</a> OR <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t907">Lion Brand&#8217;s Homespun Thick &amp; Quick</a><br />
I gotta say, <a href="https://www.yarnspirations.com/bernat-blanket-yarn--300g-10.5-oz-/161110.html">Bernat Blanket</a> is a staple yarn and &#8211; as its name suggests &#8211; is a really good choice for blankets. However, these LB substitutes offer more unique texture and colorway options to bring something different to your stash. The <a href="https://www.yarnspirations.com/bernat-blanket-yarn--300g-10.5-oz-/161110.html">Blanket yarn</a> is 100% polyester, which is hard to come by. So if you can&#8217;t find this one in your local store or want to work with something else, we&#8217;ll need to switch fibers here. In this case, over to the wool side of the house! I am almost always able to find some kind of <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t905">WETQ</a> in my craft stores and usually only come across the <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t918">classic Homespun,</a> which is indeed different from the <a href="http://shrsl.com/1t907">Thick &amp; Quick edition</a> &#8211; so be extra careful to double check your labels here. Also, keep in mind there&#8217;s almost always more beyond what you see sitting on the shelf. So for a full range of options, I advise shopping online for this project!</li>

<p>Hey friends. How are we doing? Ready for a summer vacay? Me. Too. I will raise my glass of cold brew to <strong>that</strong>!</p>
<p>Here in Florida, spring came and went <em>real</em> quick. Mother Nature said hi, hello, here&#8217;s some flowers &#8211; okay, g&#8217;bye! Then enter the sweltering hot humidity that we have affectionately named summer. Anyone else a southerner experiencing this intense heat? Please say I&#8217;m not the only one suffering&#8230;</p>
<p>HOWEVER &#8211; I will say I am enjoying some relaxation by the pool just about every day now and I can&#8217;t complain too much about it. Plus, I&#8217;ve <em>almost</em> conquered that summer tan glow you&#8217;re always seeing all over Instagram. Not to worry, I always have my fave sunscreen at the ready! (shop it <a href="https://amzn.to/2wfdwGv">HERE</a>! &amp; it&#8217;s good for babies too!)</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter wp-image-7600 size-full" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_6496.jpg" alt="" width="4157" height="6235" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_6496.jpg 1365w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_6496-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_6496-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_6496-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_6496-683x1024.jpg 683w" sizes="(max-width: 4157px) 100vw, 4157px" /></p>
<p>Here are some fan-favorite crochet patterns that are quick, simple, and easy to make for the season! They&#8217;re also perfect projects to take with you on the go if you&#8217;re road tripping this summer, or just on your way to the beach!</p>
<p>Contrary to popular belief, yarn is not just for cooler months! Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I love snuggling up in those thick and cozy blankets and sweaters just as much as the next gal. But there&#8217;s just something super fun about making (and wearing!) these garments that were made to keep you cool so that you can continue making all year. Scroll on down to see these summer gems!</p>

<li><a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-double-scoop-shawl-free-pattern/">Crochet Double Scoop Shawl</a> &#8211; This little number may or may not be my favorite pattern to date! Okay, at the <strong>very least</strong>, my favorite that I&#8217;ve made with my very own hand-dyed yarn: <a href="https://handmadehomefibers.com/">Handmade Home Fibers</a>. I call it the double scoop because it&#8217;s as dreamy and luscious as your favorite double scoop cone from that local ice cream shop. Well, it&#8217;s <em>almost</em> as good. Don&#8217;t quote me&#8230; But do make one for yourself and see! <li><a href="https://www.sewrella.com/the-crochet-laikini-cardigan/">Crochet Laikini Cardigan</a> &#8211; The tried &amp; true <a href="http://shrsl.com/1mdjy">24/7 Cotton yarn</a> from <a href="http://shrsl.com/1mdk2">Lion Brand</a> works up beautifully for this lacy summer cardigan! This one was actually one of my first garments ever to leave my hook and I gotta say &#8211; it&#8217;s a nice and light accessory to have on hand all season long. Throw it over a romper, or your bathing suit to run up the road for lunch after a morning trip to the beach. No matter how you style it, you&#8217;re bound to be comfy <em>and</em> trendy!
