<h2>Pattern Update</h2>
<p>This sweet crochet chocolate bunny actually made its debut what seems like eons ago, in my old monthly subscription service called Happy Yarn Mail. While that business is no longer an active one, it was fun while it lasted and taught me <em>a lot</em>. The patterns I featured then, now live as paid patterns on my <a href="https://sewrellapatterns.com">pattern shop</a>, with a couple of them also making it to the blog as a free pattern due to popularity.</p>
<p>Well let me just say, that this one was long overdue in making it here on the blog &#8211; and receiving a huge overhaul. It&#8217;s continued to rank well in my Etsy sales over the years, spiking around this time of the year before Easter. I&#8217;m proud to say it&#8217;s currently at an all-time high, sliding into the #2 spot as a best selling pattern! So I knew it was finally time I carve out the time to give this plushy the attention she so rightly deserves.</p>
<p>So without any further ado&#8230; I give you the Crochet Chocolate Bunny, in all of her luscious glory!! (not going to lie, I think I&#8217;d take her over a real chocolate bunny&#8230; or perhaps not. I have a rather small amount of restraint against chocolate&#8230; &amp; it&#8217;s currently wearing real thin&#8230;&#8230; *<em>BRB while I grab some of <a href="https://amzn.to/2Q0fk0e">my fave chocolate</a></em>*)</p>
<p><a href="https://sewrellapatterns.com/products/chocolate-easter-bunny"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-9220 size-full" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pattern-PDF-ad-bunny.jpg" alt="" width="1505" height="973" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pattern-PDF-ad-bunny.jpg 1505w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pattern-PDF-ad-bunny-300x194.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pattern-PDF-ad-bunny-1024x662.jpg 1024w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pattern-PDF-ad-bunny-150x97.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/pattern-PDF-ad-bunny-768x497.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1505px) 100vw, 1505px" /></a></p>
<h2>So many uses!</h2>
<p>This crochet chocolate bunny can be used as Easter decor, a spring tabletop piece, or a kid&#8217;s gift! She is so versatile and will be loved by many! She&#8217;s cute and squishy, and just the right size for all ages. The best part is that she can be worked up and finished in a day! If you have a few hours to dedicate to making, this will be your go-to project for spring. She has a nice way of blending in with all kinds of home decor, or fitting in just right to your little niece&#8217;s stuffie collection.</p>
<p>Whatever the need, the crochet chocolate bunny is a fun project for any occasion!</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9209" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575.jpg" alt="" width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DSC08575-1025x1536.jpg 1025w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<h2>Stash-Buster Project</h2>
<p>I didn&#8217;t use a full skein of any one yarn for this project. That&#8217;s right &#8211; not even for the body of the crochet chocolate bunny. Given, the <a href="https://shrsl.com/25r9j">Heartland</a> yarn I used is generous in yardage, but you could easily use what you have laying around. Or maybe you don&#8217;t have all of these laying around&#8230; You can still wind up saving some $$$ by only buying a portion of the yarns you need instead of all of them.</p>
<p>If it were me, I would prefer to stick to the brown for the crochet chocolate bunny (ya know, because chocolate is also brown), and a green for the leaf. But the neckband (whether you&#8217;re crocheting one or using ribbon) and rose colors can be totally interchangeable! You can use all different sorts of odds and ends left over from other projects.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re anti-waste here, and I really <em>really</em> dislike throwing things away (Yes this can lead to some clutter, but you just never know! I highly advise spending a few bucks on a big tub to store said scraps). So those bits you thought would never see the light of day again? Surprise! They are now, here in this project. Read on for a quick note on substitution below, then we&#8217;ll get going on the pattern!</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9210" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_9496-scaled.jpg" alt="" width="1536" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_9496-scaled.jpg 1536w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_9496-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_9496-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_9496-112x150.jpg 112w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/IMG_9496-1152x1536.jpg 1152w" sizes="(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px" /></p>
<h2><strong>Yarn + Substitution</strong></h2>
<p>I used a combination of <a href="https://shrsl.com/264q8">Lion Brand&#8217;s Heartland</a> in <a href="https://shrsl.com/264q8">Sequoia</a> for the crochet chocolate bunny body portion, and some of <a href="https://shrsl.com/25r9r">Lion Brand&#8217;s Vanna&#8217;s Choice</a> in Pink, Fern, and Mustard for the accessories.</p>
<p><strong>A note on substituting yarns and blending yarns</strong>: there is a lot of variation in the yarn industry within the world of worsted weight category 4 weight yarn. The best way I know to compare yarns of different origins, fiber contents, and brand are to look at the yardage per gram. On the yarn label for any yarn, the yardage for the ball or skein will be listed.</p>
<p>Normally, I try to make sure any yarns I&#8217;m blending within one project like this are absolutely no more than 0.5 yards per gram difference from each other. But because of the uses for these two different yarns in this pattern, it&#8217;s not as important for the gauge to be exact. Especially with needing multiple colors, I would advise just trying to find what matches. This would also be a great use of your stash yarn or leftovers from other projects, since you only need a small amount for each accessory!</p>

<p>The latest free pattern here on the blog &#8211; <strong>Crochet Warm Fuzzy Christmas Ornaments</strong>!</p>
<p>Read below about the inspiration, the perfect yarn I chose, and this beautiful stitch or scroll on down for the <em><strong>free pattern &amp; video tutorial</strong></em>.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8816" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05580.jpg" alt="" width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05580.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05580-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05580-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05580-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05580-683x1024.jpg 683w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<h3>The Inspiration + Design</h3>
<p>Since we moved into our new house earlier this year we pitched our old artificial Christmas tree and ordered a <a href="https://amzn.to/2NAcw83" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new gorgeous one on amazon</a>! The reviews didn&#8217;t lie and it&#8217;s huge, stunning, pre-lit, and fills out the room perfectly. (<a href="https://amzn.to/2NAcw83" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shop it here if ya like</a>!)</p>
<p>I had some ornaments for our tree from years past but not nearly enough to fill our 9 ft. holiday dazzler, so I knew I&#8217;d be refreshing the decor. With all the new trends and non-traditional styles in stores these days I really wanted to do something different with our tree.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8824" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05604.jpg" alt="" width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05604.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05604-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05604-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05604-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05604-683x1024.jpg 683w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<p>I am going with a blush, mauve, romantic theme and there is lots of sparkle, mixed metals (like silver, gold and copper) with plenty of pink. Frosted florals from the craft store soften and surprise, while glittery greenery picks add life and movement to the look. I&#8217;m in love with how it&#8217;s coming together!</p>
<p>I wanted to design a crochet pattern to fit with this theme and compliment the direction I was taking. It seemed like a no-brainer to crochet a simple ball ornament out of faux fur yarn for a soft, warm-fuzzies kind of look!</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8827" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05630.jpg" alt="" width="1337" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05630.jpg 1337w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05630-98x150.jpg 98w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05630-196x300.jpg 196w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05630-768x1176.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/DSC05630-669x1024.jpg 669w" sizes="(max-width: 1337px) 100vw, 1337px" /></p>
<h3><strong>The Yarn</strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lion Brand&#8217;s Go For Faux Thick and Quick</a> is the textural star of the show in this pattern. I love this yarn for all sorts of wintery projects because it has such a soft, cuddly nature about it.</p>
<p>For those of you concerned about shedding &#8211; I used the colors &#8220;<a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Baked Alaska</a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pink Poodle</a>&#8221; and neither color shed on me AT ALL. Some colorways shed a lot and others don&#8217;t shed at all so just be careful choosing colors! (I&#8217;ve also heard from good sources that &#8220;<a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Blonde Elk</a>&#8221; &#8220;<a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7">Chinchilla</a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7">Mink</a>&#8221; don&#8217;t shed either but I haven&#8217;t worked with these myself to confirm).</p>
<p>One ball of <a href="http://shrsl.com/1x1j7" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Go For Faux Thick &amp; Quick</a> makes two ornaments and that&#8217;s a bargain compared to what store-bought fur ornaments go for! These would make great gifts, &#8220;snowballs&#8221; for kiddos who live in warm climates to play with, or even to top hats in place of a traditional fur pom pom!</p>

<h3>The Inspiration + Design</h3>
<p>My three year old Parker is obsessed with Curious George &#8211; the books, the movie, everything. So when I thought about Halloween coming up, I thought surprising him with a fun costume would be just the thing!</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll be dressing Parker up as The Man with the Yellow Hat and he will carry around a monkey! I made the monkey myself and even designed a pattern for you guys to make your own Monkey! I made him in about a week with just two skeins of yarn so you still have time to throw this together before Halloween!</p>
<p><a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-happy-monkey-free-pattern" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">See the free Happy Monkey Crochet Pattern HERE!</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/729860068/crochet-pattern-happy-monkey-amigurumi?ref=listings_manager_grid" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8723" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/pattern-PDF-ad-happy-monkey.jpg" alt="" width="1505" height="973" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/pattern-PDF-ad-happy-monkey.jpg 1505w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/pattern-PDF-ad-happy-monkey-150x97.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/pattern-PDF-ad-happy-monkey-300x194.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/pattern-PDF-ad-happy-monkey-768x497.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/pattern-PDF-ad-happy-monkey-1024x662.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1505px) 100vw, 1505px" /></a></p>
<p>This makes the monkey component such a special piece for his first Halloween costume (he didn&#8217;t dress up the last couple of years) and he can keep it around to play or sleep with beyond just Halloween! Which means all my hard work making this little guy will be so worth it.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8710" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04434.jpg" alt="" width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04434.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04434-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04434-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04434-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04434-683x1024.jpg 683w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<p><center><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZgUnQAewNFc" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></center><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8712" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04543.jpg" alt="" width="1366" height="2048" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04543.jpg 1366w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04543-100x150.jpg 100w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04543-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04543-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC04543-683x1024.jpg 683w" sizes="(max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px" /></p>
<h2><strong>The Materials</strong></h2>
<h4><strong>(links below)</strong></h4>
<p>In the way that I wanted the monkey to be multi-purpose, the components of the outfit needed to be useful too! I hate spending money on a costume to wear for two hours and then the entire thing is wasted. Drives me nuts!</p>
<p>So instead of a big honkin&#8217; yellow hat that he&#8217;ll never wear again, we opted for a yellow baseball cap.</p>
<p>I found yellow shirts and shorts in all different styles and just picked what I thought he would like to wear and would fit together with the theme. Again, he will re-wear the shirt and shorts after Halloween is over just not in one big yellow ensemble.</p>
<p>I found a yellow toddler sized tie on amazon and drew black circles with sharpie to make it look like The Man with the Yellow Hat&#8217;s from the books. This may not be worn again but that&#8217;s still only one item from the whole costume that won&#8217;t get reused! WIN!</p>

<p>I&#8217;m so excited to bring you the first Christmas themed project of the season, my <a href="https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1125740&amp;u=1700448&amp;m=72611&amp;urllink=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Elionbrand%2Ecom%2Fkits%2Fcrochet%2Dkit%2Dfarmhouse%2Dchristmas%2Dstocking%2Ehtml&amp;afftrack=" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Farmhouse Christmas Stockings</strong></a>!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s part of Lion Brand Yarn&#8217;s annual 12 Weeks of Christmas promotion and I hope you stay tuned to read more about this design and the others in the collection before scrolling down to the free pattern. <em>Let&#8217;s get festive</em>!</p>
<h3><strong>The Design</strong></h3>
<p>I&#8217;ve made Christmas stockings before but they never felt unique to me and my taste. If you&#8217;ve been following along around here on the blog, all year I&#8217;ve been focusing my intention on creating things that feel really in line with my style &#8211; <em>trends be damned</em>! (that&#8217;s right, I said it). So when imagining what I wanted to make for a holiday decor piece, I knew I needed to revisit the idea of a classic christmas stocking but add a bit of a feminine, romantic twist.</p>
<p>So what did I add? LACE. Simple lacy stitches that will let ya peek in on what Santa brought you! I knew I wanted to keep the design simple enough to be accomplishable in a weekend without lots of fuss. That heel turn gave me a run for my money, but I think it came out really nicely in the end (and I put together lots of photos to help you through that tricky area).</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>OTHER CHRISTMAS PATTERNS I LOVE (&amp; you should too)</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5960" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/christmas-suggestion-graphic.jpg" alt="" width="4160" height="2038" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/christmas-suggestion-graphic.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/christmas-suggestion-graphic-150x73.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/christmas-suggestion-graphic-300x147.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/christmas-suggestion-graphic-768x376.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/christmas-suggestion-graphic-1024x502.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 4160px) 100vw, 4160px" /></p>
<p>1. <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-santa-clause-with-huggies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Crochet Santa Plushy</a> / 2. <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/crochet-heirloom-cabled-throw/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Crochet Heirloom Cable Afghan</a> / 3. <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/christmas-traditions-ornament-cal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Christmas Traditions Ornament Collection</a></p>
<h3><strong>The Yarn</strong></h3>
<p>This stocking still needs to be functional though, right? And with lacy open stitches how am I &#8211; I mean SANTA &#8211; how is Santa supposed to fill it with goodies and not stretch it out?</p>
<p>By using super durable cotton yarn, of course! Lion Brand&#8217;s 24/7 Cotton yarn is the perfect choice, really the only choice in my opinion, for this project. You need a somewhat stiff/durable yarn that will stand the test of time, but you also want something beautiful. The 24/7 Cotton is a mercerized cotton which has a beautiful sheen that looks really polished and pretty in the holiday twinkle lights!</p>
<p>There are a ton of color options (24 to be exact!) to go with any holiday decor, but I love the simplicity of the cream colored Ecru. They will go with anything as your tastes change over time and you inevitably change your ornaments, garlands, and other holiday accessories.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5954" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_0058.jpg" alt="" width="6240" height="4160" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_0058.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_0058-150x100.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_0058-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_0058-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IMG_0058-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 6240px) 100vw, 6240px" /></p>
<h3><strong>The Collection</strong></h3>
<p>Lion Brand has put together a kit for this project with all the yarn you need and a printed copy of the full pattern (yes &#8211; photos and all!) that will be delivered right to you. Neat, huh?! You can <a href="https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1125740&amp;u=1700448&amp;m=72611&amp;urllink=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Elionbrand%2Ecom%2Fkits%2Fcrochet%2Dkit%2Dfarmhouse%2Dchristmas%2Dstocking%2Ehtml&amp;afftrack=" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">shop my kit HERE</a>.</p>

<p>Hi! We’re Donna &amp;amp; Michaelene! We design Kawaii Cuddlers and Corner-to- Corner (C2C) projects for our website <a href="http://3amgracedesigns.com/">3amgracedesigns</a>. Donna launched <a href="http://3amgracedesigns.com/">3amgracedesigns</a> in January of this year and Michaelene joined mid-year offering her attention to detail for the Big Bang Theory project. Together we love dreaming up yarntastic goodness to share with our fellow crochet enthusiasts!</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3556" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/IMG_0900.jpg" alt="" width="6009" height="4006" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/IMG_0900.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/IMG_0900-150x100.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/IMG_0900-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/IMG_0900-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/IMG_0900-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 6009px) 100vw, 6009px" /></p>
<p>Our Present Kawaii Cuddler is our second Christmas themed Kawaii Cuddler. We love the cuteness of kawaii faces on ordinary objects. The Present is an adorable addition to our Christmas series.</p>

<p>Our Christmas Tree Kawaii Cuddler ties together both our love for the Christmas season and the cuteness of kawaii faces on ordinary objects. The combination resulted in this adorable kawaii Christmas tree.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m so happy (and a bit sad) to be bringing you the 25th and final installment of the 25 Days of Christmas Traditions Crochet-a-Long here on my blog!</p>
<p>It has been my favorite series to date, full of holiday sweets, cherished characters, and some surprises too!</p>
<p>And let&#8217;s not forget about all of those traditions &#8211; each ornament is accompanied by a very special tradition to take part in during the holidays.</p>
<p>(Watch out later today for a free printable list of all the ornaments and traditions for gift giving or just keeping a record of your own!)</p>
<p>Without further ado, I bring you my favorite ornament of the whole series:</p>
<p>Santa Claus!</p>
<p>This jolly fella is so cute and sweet, he is the epitome of Christmas cheer!</p>
<p>He is a kind shining beacon of hope and love for children (and adults) everywhere around the holidays &#8211; something tells me he is that way all year round.</p>
<p>And thus is the Santa spirit!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-3429 size-full" title="Crochet Santa Claus Christmas Ornament" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220431.jpg" alt="crochet santa claus ornament" width="4592" height="3448" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220431.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220431-150x113.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220431-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220431-768x577.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220431-1024x769.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 4592px) 100vw, 4592px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-3430 size-full" title="Crochet Santa Claus Christmas Ornament" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220432.jpg" alt="crochet santa claus ornament" width="4592" height="3448" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220432.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220432-150x113.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220432-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220432-768x577.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220432-1024x769.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 4592px) 100vw, 4592px" /></p>
<p>THE TRADITION: Vow to carry the Santa spirit all through the year! I will be celebrating the Santa spirit by talking with my family about how I plan to exude kindness, love, acceptance, and generosity for all of the year.</p>
<p>And of course we will watch my all-time favorite Christmas movie &#8211; The Year Without a Santa Claus!</p>
<p>This old movie really highlights everything that I feel about the holidays: love over hate, friendliness, and kindness all being so much more important than Santa&#8217;s gifts.</p>
<p>Celebrate each other and put your Santa hat on!</p>

<p>Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer had a very shiny nose, and if you ever saw it you would even say it glows!</p>
<p>The story of Rudolf is a pretty sad one.</p>
<p>He was the ugly duckling of the group, with a red nose that stuck out like a sore thumb (wow, so many colloquialisms in one sentence).</p>
<p>&#8220;All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games. Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say &#8216;Rudolf with your nose so bright, won&#8217;t you guide my sleigh tonight?'&#8221;</p>
<p>Santa saw his worth and not only included him, but singled him out for the most special job of all!</p>
<p>Santa acknowledged Rudolf&#8217;s supposed weakness and treated it as a strength.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter wp-image-3386 size-full" title="Crochet Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer Christmas Ornament" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/rudolf-1-1.jpg" alt="" width="3795" height="2546" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/rudolf-1-1.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/rudolf-1-1-150x101.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/rudolf-1-1-300x201.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/rudolf-1-1-768x515.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/rudolf-1-1-1024x687.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 3795px) 100vw, 3795px" /></p>
<p>THE TRADITION: Be the Santa of your story. Seek out the Rudolf in your family, office, classroom, or group of friends. Include them and celebrate them!</p>
<p>This one can take many shapes, and can be as simple as starting up a conversation with someone who is always the quiet one of the group. Is there a woman in the corner cubicle who nobody ever invites to lunch? Ask if she would like to tag along! If she declines (shy ones often do, I was always the shy girl) bring her a cookie from the cafe and say you missed her and you hope that she&#8217;ll join you tomorrow.</p>
<p>Some of my best friendships were awkward co-worker relationships at first. I even floated in the same circles as my fiance for months before we ever talked &#8211; you never know who you&#8217;ll get along great with!</p>
<p>Whomever you deem your Rudolf, make an honest effort to put your preconceived notions aside and open up to them. They may just surprise you.</p>
<p>Oh, and watch the Rudolf movie too!</p>

<p>We are down to our last 3 ornaments of the Christmas Traditions Crochet-a-Long!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m excited to see this biopic of a project wrapping up, but a little sad to see what has been my favorite project to date coming to a close.</p>
<p>I won&#8217;t stay sad too long, because I will have 25 beautiful handmade ornaments to admire!</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s ornament is a cute little elf inspired by (you guessed it) the movie Elf!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not a huge fan of Will Farrell (sorry, Will, if you&#8217;re reading this) and didn&#8217;t really model the elf after him.</p>
<p>Elf is really the only Farrell movie I like &#8211; and I think that&#8217;s because he had to seriously reign himself in to make a kid&#8217;s film.</p>
<p>I did totally steal the hat design and color scheme though &#8211; I admit to that!</p>
<p>My little elf has a sweet smile and even tiny pointed elf ears!</p>
<p>This little guy is my favorite yet.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3351" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220421.jpg" alt="" width="4592" height="3448" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220421.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220421-150x113.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220421-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220421-768x577.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/P1220421-1024x769.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 4592px) 100vw, 4592px" /></p>
<p>THE TRADITION: &#8216;Elf&#8217; your friends or family! You may have read all about Elfing earlier this week on my <a href="https://www.sewrella.com/2016/11/crochet-elfing-holiday-gift-basket.html">Crochet Elfing Holiday Gift Basket post.</a></p>
<p>If not, basically Elfing is the act of anonymously giving a basket of goodies to an unsuspecting friend or family member! Leave it on their front porch, on their desk while they&#8217;re at lunch, or anywhere else.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll be Elfing my sister and her kids with a basket full of candy, stickers, a cute toy polar bear, and other goodies. I&#8217;ll leave it on their porch, ring the bell, and run away!</p>
<p>Surprising people with an unexpected treat is my favorite thing to do year round. Remind those around you that you&#8217;re thinking of them and that you love them!</p>
<p>And of course, that evening we will be watching Elf with big bowls of popcorn!</p>

<p>It&#8217;s Christmas Crochet-a-Long day and I have an ornament for you that is very near and dear to my heart.</p>
<p>I grew up practicing ballet (among other forms of dance) for about ten years.</p>
<p>Some of my best (and most embarrassing) childhood memories happened on stage or in a studio. My mom was a dancer for decades and I grew up with lots of ballet slippers and tutus!</p>
<p>I even had the pleasure of dancing in professional productions of the Nutcracker Ballet for three years in a row and it was my favorite production to be a part of!</p>
<p>I remember that all the elementary schools in the area would take field trips to see this production (it was quite well known around my city) and I wouldn&#8217;t turn in my permission slip, proclaiming proudly that I was a ballerina IN the show!</p>
<p>I only ever danced corps or background roles but nonetheless, I got to wear the pretty costume and warm up backstage next to real live New York City ballerinas!</p>
<p>I still proudly tell those stories and have to watch the Nutcracker every year and relive a bit of that magic.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter wp-image-3250 size-full" title="Crochet Nutcracker Christmas Ornament" src="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nutcracker-1.jpg" alt="" width="4036" height="2802" srcset="https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nutcracker-1.jpg 2048w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nutcracker-1-150x104.jpg 150w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nutcracker-1-300x208.jpg 300w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nutcracker-1-768x533.jpg 768w, https://www.sewrella.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/nutcracker-1-1024x711.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 4036px) 100vw, 4036px" /></p>
<p>THE TRADITION: Watch the Nutcracker Ballet! Whether you see it on stage or on your television, watch the ballet with family. There is really some magic in those pointe shoes.</p>
<p>If you think the kids will be bored by the ballet, think again! This one is full of whimsical story, action, and energy &#8211; especially if you take them to the theater!</p>
