Crochet Heirloom Cabled Throw

Friends! I’ve got my most complicated, intricate, beautiful crochet pattern yet for you today.

NOW DON’T LET THAT SCARE YOU. I just have to toot my own horn for a minute because I would never have thought I could crochet something like this, let alone design it! Woop woop! (Remember that I learned to crochet, forget design, only four years ago. If I can do it, you can friends!)

MY LATEST VIDEOS
MY LATEST VIDEOS

This pattern uses all double and treble crochet, with some front post stitches and a simple 4 row repeat. There are 3 types of cables going on:

  • single strand cables
  • horn cables (like knitting!)
  • mega cable

Disclaimer – I totally made up the names of these cables and they probably have beautiful accurate names, but to me these made the most sense. Ha!

The video below will help SO MUCH with this pattern. I go through it stitch by stitch and I think it really helps to make sense of this intricate blanket.

You’ll need a lot of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn and you’ll wind up with the coziest blanket you ever did see. HONEST. WETQ is my favorite bulky weight yarn and if you’ve been on Instagram at all in the last couple of years, you have probably seen how much everyone loves it. It’s the epitome of squish!

I’ve teamed up with Lion Brand Yarn and they’ve put together a great kit for this project! You’ll get exactly how much creamy squishy yarn you need and a printed copy of the pattern below, shipped right to your door. Isn’t that super convenient?! Grab yours HERE.

The Heirloom Cabled Throw is also part of Lion Brand’s 12 Weeks of Christmas promotion. They’ve rounded up some of my best blogger and designer friends to design a collection of 12 patterns perfect for crocheting and knitting for the holiday season to come – and they’re all available as kits! Watch out for some of my best yarn friends’ patterns!
