Hi! I’m Heather, blogger and crochet designer at The Unraveled Mitten, where I offer free crochet patterns and tutorials that have pretty colors and all the textures. I am a busy stay at home mom and wife with 3 little girls and crochet is really my lifesaver, it keeps me sane (I’m sure if your a mom you can relate!) There is just nothing better than curling up on the couch with my current project and a cup of tea after all the kids are tucked in bed. I am so excited to make some new friends over here on Ashleigh’s blog today!
These textured mittens were inspired by a knit pair I found over on Pinterest. Now, oddly enough as the pattern evolved they really don’t look anything like that knit pair but I love them just the same. I have been wanting to make a pair of mittens for awhile now (I mean after all, my name is The Unraveled MITTEN), and these babies are going to be so perfect to finish out the winter up here in northern Michigan. No more cold hands while waiting for the school bus to pick up the kids those frigid mornings.
PATTERNS I LOVE (& you should too)
1. Crochet Homemaker Gingham Throw / 2. Crochet Everyday Cardigan / 3. Crochet Le Nuage Wrap/Triangle Scarf
I used Lion Brand’s Heartland yarn, which is a 100% acrylic super soft yarn with a pretty sheen to it. This is the color Katmai and it is a light, heathered gray. It reminded me of the color of the moon and how it changes shade across its textured surface.
This color combined with the subtle textured stitches on these mittens inspired the name Moon Dance. If you don’t have this yarn Caron Simply Soft, Red Heart Soft or Lion Brand’s Wool-ease (the worsted weight one) would make a great substitutes!
Don’t forget to check out the my other favorite winter patterns here!
