I’m so excited to bring you guys my newest wearable – the crochet bubblegum pullover sweater!
It’s oversized, it’s cuddly warm, it’s marvelous!
This is the best boxy fit pullover sweater that’s perfect with simple jeans and boots for comfy winter days. I just love that thick ribbing on the cuffs and hemline, don’t you?
For this sweater design, I like a baggier and slightly longer sleeve that comes over my wrists slightly to be extra cozy comfy. Of course because you’re making your own clothes (so cool, right?!) you can alter this to be exactly what you like. Just omit a row here or there or add extra to make this sweater exactly what you like!
I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick in the colorway Blossom for this project, and it worked up SO quick, you may not believe it. I created my sweater, start to finish in about ten hours. TEN HOURS YOU GUYS. That is nothing. At least in the world of creating your own fashion. I don’t know if I could sew a top in that amount of time, let alone create the fabric with crochet and assemble to wear.
You could start this sweater in the morning and wear it to dinner, it’s that quick to make. (Did somebody say quick holiday gift idea? Because the bubblegum sweater is definitely at the top of my “make it today, give it tomorrow list”)

Seaming:
Body – side seams
Cut two pieces of yarn each about 10′ long.
Using only mattress stitches (find a great tutorial here) and a large eye tapestry needle, sew up the side seams beginning with the ribbing. Leave an armhole at the top appropriate for your size (see sizing measurements above).
Weave ends.
Body – shoulder seams
Cut two pieces of yarn each about 2′ long.
Mattress stitch to sew up the shoulder seams on each side of the V neckline.
Sleeves
Cut two pieces of yarn each about 8′ long.
Mattress stitch to sew up the length of the sleeve by matching up the raw edges row for row. Do not break yarn, mattress stitch to sew last Row of sleeve to the armhole. Weave ends and repeat process on other sleeve.
Neckline Ribbing:
Ch 4, Hdc in 3rd st from hook and next st, Ch 2, t
Row 2: Blo hdc sl st in each st, Ch 2, t
Repeat Row 2 until you’ve made 27 Rows, finish off leaving a tail about 6′ long.
Mattress stitch along the rough edge of your ribbing to sew neckline ribbing around the V-neckline of your sweater. Row 1 of neckline ribbing should be stitched in line with Row 1 of V-neckline side 1 portion of Front Panel. Row 27 should be stitched in line with Row 1 of V-neckline side 2 portion of Front Panel.
Stitch Rows 1 and 27 to meet evenly along rough edges, weave ends.

Hi there,
In your instructions, you reference a video…
“Working in the same direction as and following Row 1 of V-neckline side 1, skip 1 st, Join yarn to next st (see video for help with this placement), Ch 3”
However, I don’t see a link to any video. Could you add it to the description?
Thank you!
