I’m so happy to finally share with you the free pattern for my Crochet Confetti Cardigan using yarn from my very own line, Handmade Home Fibers!
I’ve got the pattern all written up for you below as well as a video tutorial if you want to get right down to business, but I’d love to tell you a bit more about the pattern first.
Handmade Home Fibers
I made this sprinkle-y sweater with my very own hand dyed yarn from my new small batch dyeing business, Handmade Home Fibers! In case you haven’t already heard, I started hand dyeing my very own high quality yarns with my husband earlier this year and it’s been so much fun to create my own yarn and then create my own handmade designs with that yarn!
We have just brought back the CONFETTI CARDIGAN KITS to the shop! Grab yours in any size + any stripe option by clicking HERE.
I knew since last fall that I wanted to recreate the Everyday Cardigan (pictured below) with stripes. I hadn’t yet found the perfect yarn for the project so I kind of let the dream go for a while. After we started dyeing our own yarns I started thinking about what yarn I wanted to create to make this striped cardi come to life – then it hit me, sprinkles!
Pastel rainbow sprinkles with a blushy violet thin stripe seemed like just the thing I wanted. Not too bright or complicated, but something with color and a fun twist I hadn’t seen before. The Handmade Home Fibers followers on Instagram really loved the idea too so I decided to make this pattern available to them first in the form of a kit – they got all the yarn they needed (hand dyed to order by us!) as well as early access to the pattern. Some of the kit gals have already finished their sweaters!

Stripes all around!
I didn’t want to make this pattern only available to those who could afford to buy the kit, as hand dyed yarn is pretty expensive. So I decided to publish the pattern to the public for free, yay!
I made my pattern using our yarns in a Level 3/DK weight yarn but you could use other yarns for this pattern too – just be sure to triple check your guage and adjust your hook size as needed to meet my measurements.

You can make your cardigan with stripes or without, I have handy stitch tables below to help you navigate the spacing of your stripes but this cardigan would be really fun with uneven or larger stripes too! So feel free to change color as often or as little as you like.
Find the video tutorial below, I hope it helps ya!

XL: Work to Row 50
2XL: Work to Row 52
3XL: Work to Row 52
Finish off leaving a very long tail for sewing.
Line up center of last sleeve Row with first Row of Front Panel. Use stitch markers to keep sleeve in place. Use a whip stitch to secure entire last Row of sleeve to cardigan body.
Fold front/back panels to resemble cardigan, fold sleeve on itself lengthwise to line up underarm and side seam. With a long piece of spare yarn begin at the cuff of the sleeve (foundation chain) and sew with a mattress stitch to underarm.
Continue sewing mattress stitch along side seam of body to hemline. Weave ends.
Make second sleeve the same way and seam up. (Beware of any tension differences, this can make your sleeves two different sizes!)
Hemline Ribbing:
Join yarn to the last row of your first front panel. If you are looking at the cardigan, not wearing it, this will be the inside corner on the left panel (or right panel if you’re left handed).
Ch 2, Dc in each st evenly around the entire neckline – up the rough edge of the first front panel, in each of your skipped stitches between front panels, and down the rough edge of the second front panel.
Work 2 Dc into the corner and continue on to the hemline.
Dc along the entire hemline of the cardigan (working over the hemline of the second front panel, over the side seam, across the back panel [you’re working into the original foundation chain here], over the second side seam, and across the first front panel), sl st to first Dc of the round to join
*Note: Depending on your size and how exactly you Dc evenly around, you may have different numbers of sts in your hemline ribbing. Be sure you make an even number of stitches that don’t pull or ruffle.
Round 2: Ch 2, Fpdc, Bpdc, rpt around, sl st to join
Rounds 3-4: Repeat Round 2
Round 5: Ch 1, Sc in each Dc to end, sl st to join
Finish off and weave ends.

I loved this pattern because it looks so pretty and it’s beginner friendly! but I’m from Argentina and the yarn I got it’s quite thinner and I’m like a third of an inch short on the gauge thingy. How do I adapt the pattern? I was going for a size L
