Hi everyone! Here with the next episode of my new series, Stitch Dictionary – the place where you can find tons of new, unique stitches to try!
For each of these stitch swatches, I’ll be working up an 11 x 11″ swatch in Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in varying colors, eventually joining my swatches together to form a Stitch Dictionary Throw blanket!

Today’s episode is the Griddle Stitch, a versatile stitch best used with several different colors. It works up fast and is easy to learn.
My favorite thing about the griddle stitch is its loads of subtle texture – not too much but definitely noticeable

Written Pattern
Ch an even number of sts
Row 1: Dc in 3rd st from hook, Sc in next, repeat across, Ch 2, turn
Row 2: Dc in 1st, Sc in next, repeat across, Ch 2, turn
Repeat Row 2 until desired length.
*Note: Your rows should always end with a Sc and you should see alternating Sc on top of Dc and vice versa with every row. See video above for more details.

This is great and just the right size. I like the idea of the stitch dictionary throw blanket. Is this the first stitch (the griddle?) in the series? If not, do you have a link to the others stitches you would share?

This stitch is so simple and looks so gorgeous! I love the idea of creating a blanket with the samples–I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
I don’t know where to ask a question about a pattern so hopefully you can help me from here. This pattern is the Parker Hat & Booties. On round 2 where is says 2 HDC does it mean 1 HDC in 2 stitches or 2 HDC in next stitch ? Thank you. I’m trying to get these booties done as so cute for a baby shower. Made the hat & thank you so much for the pattern
Hi Maxine! “2 Hdc” means to make 2 Hdc in the next stitch, whereas “Hdc next 2” means to Hdc once in each of the next 2 sts. Hope this clears things up!
Thank you for your video and sharing the written pattern below. I’m deciding on a simple stitch pattern for a baby blanket of many colors, some patterns are too complex for me to crochet on lunch, where you’re pulling out your project, have about 20 min to crochet and then putting it away…so this stitch is great for that type of crochet time!
