We don’t take National Donut Day lightly around these parts, and since I’ve recently gone totally gluten free I decided to crochet my donut instead!
And accessorizing with donuts is the newest, hottest trend. I can feel it.

Materials:
-Worsted weight yarn in beige, pink, and scraps of rainbow colors (I used Lion Brand DIY mini yarn & bon bons)
-Size H 5mm crochet hook
-Tapestry needle
-Bobbi pin or alligator clip
-Hot glue (optional)
Donut:
With beige yarn, Ch 6, sl st into the first Ch (next to the slip knot) to form a ring, Ch 2, 8 Dc into ring, sl st to join, Ch 2 (8)
Round 2: 2 Dc in each around, sl st to join, finish off & weave ends (16)
Frosting:
With pink yarn, Ch 8, sl st into the first Ch (next to the slip knot) to form a ring, Ch 2, 12 Dc into ring, sl st to join, Ch 2 (12)
Round 2: Hdc, sl st, repeat around, sl st to join, finish off leaving a long tail for sewing (12)
-Sew random “sprinkles” with all different colors of yarn (I used mint, lemon, hot pink, white, and lavender) each about 1/4″ long (see video above for help!)
-Hot glue frosting to donut, or sew around the perimeter using the frosting’s long tail. Weave all ends
-Thread a bobbi pin through some of the stitches or hot glue an alligator clip to the back of the donut. Allow to dry completely before accessorizing.
Where will you wear your crochet donut?
