I’m not sure you could split the pattern as it would need to be constructed completely differently if you were making a flat piece. I would say start with a starting Ch and try to follow the shape of the head (larger on one end with increases and decrease to smaller on the other end) as best you can. Good luck!

Conservatively, I would say four. But I haven’t made several from one skein so I’m just guessing!
