This was really awesome to see someone with a crochet blog doing so well. I have a knitting blog which I started in 2016 but I only just monetised a couple of months ago, already I’ve had an increase in Etsy pattern sales which has been awesome. I went from 500 views a year to 4K unique visitors a month! Not 300k but it’s a start!

Hello, I appreciate the insight and information. I am curious as to how you write a pattern, in order to sell. I have been crocheting and knitting since childhood and rarely use a pattern. I sometimes alter a vintage tablecloth(diagram) pattern into a skirt or dress. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer (age 50) and although I have insurance, it is still an expensive journey. I am now at the point where I have to consider my “talents” as a means of income. (I never really considered my creativity as talent, just a way of expression) I am bookmarking your site. Hello Ashleigh,
For months I would come to your site and read about starting a blog. I kept saying that I could not do it. I am in school to be a social worker and one of our assignments was to post three immeasurable goals and then our classmates had to change our goals into measurable ones. My three goals were to Spend more time with my family, Crochet more, Start a blog for my crochet. That was this past Monday, March 12th. That day I changed my own goal to measurable and started a blog. I came right back to you and clicked on your link. Although it is still a work in progress, I am happy the way it is coming out. I love that you do this! Keep it up, and I will be popping in all spring/summer. I just switch to dishcloths in the warmer months. But you are the one blogger I follow that makes designing seem like something I could actually do one day.
