GRANNY SPIKE STITCH
Written Pattern
Ch a multiple of 4 +1 (this will be the width of your finished piece)
Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as your first Dc), 2 Dc in 4th Ch from hook, *Ch 1, sk 3, 3 Dc in next, rep from * across
Row 2: Ch 4, turn, Sk over the first cluster, *(Dc, Dc Spk St into st directly below in foundation Ch, Dc) in Ch 1 sp, Ch 1, sk over next cluster, rep from * across, Dc in Ch 3 space from Row 1
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first Dc), turn, Dc Spk St in Dc from cluster below (Row 1), Dc in Ch 1, space, Ch 1, sk over next cluster, *(Dc, Dc Spk St into st directly below in Row 1, Dc) in Ch 1 sp, Ch 1, sk over next cluster, rep from * across (end with final cluster in Ch 4 turning sp from Row 2)
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 alternating until desired length.
BLOCK STITCH
With main color, Ch a multiple of 3 +3
Row 1: Dc in 4th st from hook and across, color change to contrasting color, Ch 1, turn
Row 2: Sc in 1st, Ch 2, sk 2, repeat across, color change to main color, Ch 3, turn
Row 3: Dc in 1st, 2 Dc in Ch space (not in the Ch sts), repeat across, color change to contrasting color, Ch 1, turn
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 alternating until desired length.
